The III International Conference of ABRAPUI, to be held at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Florianópolis, Brazil, from 6th to 9th of May 2012, has as its main theme Language and Literature in the Age of Technology. In order to discuss the intersection of our areas of research and teaching with technological advances in contemporary society, we have round tables and lectures on the teaching / learning languages with the support of technology, research in distance education, teacher training, new literacies and theoretical and philosophical reflections permitted by the immersion of our local practices in an ever more transnational and intermediatic environment. Thus, the Congress will seek to discuss and reflect on the challenges of teaching and researching foreign language and literature in the academic environment in Brazil, as well as the necessary interactions with foreign cultures and institutions in a contemporary setting.
